Great Chalfield is a hidden historical gem. It is its rural location which attracts thousands of visitors every year. All approaches are within close proximity of the towns of Brad-Upon-Avon, Melksham and Trowbridge. The narrow country roads are well maintained in this part of Wiltshire, but caution does need to be excercised as the roads are used by walkers, bikers and vehicles.
Location Area. - off the B3107. South West of Melksham. West of Bath or North East of Bradford-Upon-Avon.
Directions to Great Chalfield Manor
From London,North, and from Devizes and East
M4 to exit 17,then follow signs to Chippenham and around ;then A350 bypass to Melksham. From A350 roundabout at Melksham take B3107 by Countrywide Farmers sign posted Bradford on Avon and Broughton Gifford. First RIGHT to Broughton Gifford, across Common,(sign towards Atworth) Gt Chalfield drive on left after the village, then one mile. Distance from Melksham about 3 miles.This is the route for coaches.
From Bath & Box
Take A4 from Bath to Box, fork right at traffic light in Box on A365 sign for Melksham. From A365 at Atworth, turn right before Clock tower, through village towards Stonar school, turn left at next cross roads (sign Broughton Gifford).After one mile turn right into drive to Great Chalfield then one mile.Distance from Bath about 10 miles.
From Bradford on Avon and South West
Take B3109 (sign Corsham) turn right at Plough Inn, Bradford Leigh, then at second small lane fork Left and keep left. About 3 miles from Bradford on Avon. NB this route is not suitable for coaches.
